Recently, the Student Council (StuCo) participated in two major events: Mini-State and Big-State. Both events provided valuable opportunities to explore leadership skills and learn from inspirational speakers.
Big-State took place in Tucson at Red Mountain High School, where schools from all over the state gathered. Ten StuCo members from our school were selected to attend: Noelia Santos Ventura, Shahad Al Mufti, Skyler Starchman, Andy Santos, Mariana Dominguez, Iyonna Lawler, Kimora Coleman, Jennifer Flores, Mia Ortega, and Litzy Lopez. During the event, guest speakers shared their personal leadership journeys and offered insights on becoming better leaders.
Mini-State, a district-wide event, was held at Thunderbird High School, and this time, the entire StuCo attended. Similar to Big-State, motivational speakers gave talks, but this event also included a chance to contribute to a Letter of Love charity by making friendship bracelets and cards. At the end of the day, all participating schools showcased their school spirit through a dance performance. Cortez’s performance was choreographed by Kimora Coleman and Noelia Santos Ventura.
Both events were a great way to build leadership skills, make new connections, and have fun with other schools in the district!
